Polk County Sheriff's Office in Western Oregon where he worked for 14 years
before moving to Baker City in 2014.

Grants Pass Police HQ construction on schedule

Grants Pass held a City Council meeting on Monday where one of the topics
discussed was an update on the new police headquarters in Grants
Pass. Interior work is progressing as planned and the project is on
time for completion - estimated for September or October on this year.

The Idaho Supreme Court says law enforcement officers can't
arrest someone for a misdemeanor unless they have a warrant or actually saw
the crime being committed.

law enforcement teams up to give 100 kids new beds

nationwide non-profit made a stop in Bay County and is giving back to local
kids. In an effort to help kids impacted by Hurricane Michael, the
organization brought in a few hundred volunteers to help build bunk beds on
Saturday.

Conference President's Award
A President's Award was given to North Bend
PD and Chief Rob Kappelman. Chief Kris Allison (OACP's current President),
had the privelege of presenting it. Wording on the award reads:
"In recognition of your efforts to
make the City of North Bend a safer community. As a result of the efforts
of the women and men of the North Bend Police Department, under Chief Rob
Kappelman's leadership, the City of North Bend saw a 53% reduction in
property crime and a 38% reduction in violent crime."
