Chief RandySparacino
retires from Medford PD
Chief David Henslee presented Chief Sparacino with the OACP Retirement
plaque at his retirement celebration on August 7. Chief Sparacino retired
from Medford PD after more than 29 years at the department. The OACP
congratulates him and wishes him the best.

Congratulations to the
new Chief of Reedsport, Matt Smart. Chief Smart will be sworn in Thursday, August 22
at 5:00 pm in front of the Reedsport Police Department. A reception will
follow. All members are invited to attend.

New Tillamook County Sheriff has big
goals for public service
Headlight Herald
Jim Horton was appointed Sheriff of Tillamook County on Friday, August 2.
He is taking over Andy Long's term, who retired, for the 15 months left of
the term. His term ends in November 2020. Sheriff Horton will be filing for
permanent office for the four-year term.

Associated Press
Attorney General William Barr staunchly defended the work of law
enforcement Monday - promising to push for new legislation to swiftly carry
out the death penalty for suspects who commit mass shootings or kill police
officers, while also taking aim at prosecutors who "style themselves
as 'social justice' reformers."

joined deputies and personnel for a giveaway event called "Shop with
the Sheriff." Hosted at local Walmart stores, school-aged children
could enjoy breakfast, lunch and cool treats as they shopped for
back-to-school clothes.

Department with goodies after officer dragged by car
Atlanta Journal-Constitution
After one of their own was dragged alongside a car onto I-285
and thrown from the vehicle last week, the police department has been
overloaded with sweet treats sent in by residents for the injured officer.
